For most every country dating back nearly 100 years their has been data on infant mortality rate, but what I find surprising is the lack of data on the mother mortality rate during birth. Also the difference in the mother’s mortality rate when comparing natural child birth and a cesarean section. The data probably exists somewhere, where that is would be very useful information.
The info is not very hard to find. A simple google search of "maternal mortality rates" will get you a lot of results.
In the US the number of women dying after childbirth is rising (although the # itself is still quite small) and it has been directly linked to the increased number of c sections preformed.
