singles and dating what is your opinion on this guy? is he racist?

so im a latina girl mexican and this guy i like is white italian german irish and a whole bunch of other white things. anyways we were friends he was very nice to me and always talked to me and flirted wiith me at school in the cafeteria and in gym class and english class. he would constantly sit next to me in lunch and touch my hair.he told me i was really pretty and nice and funny. anyways one day he asked me "so what are you"? i said "im mexican-american". and then he was like "ohhhh" with kinda ugh a confused look on his face. anyways a few days later i see him in the hallways at school and i try running to him and i notice that he was running quite fast looking like he wanted to get away from me. in the cafeteria i try talking to him and he ignores me and just says "yup, yeah ugh umm, sure, ok, whatever,." he doesnt look like he even wants to talk to me. he doesnt flirt with me or even sit next to me or be my partner in gym class anymore. i know he cant be racist b/c he has black and peurterican friends. but i dont know im mad and he didnt even ask me out=[ maybe i never should have told him i was mexican.
