Why are so many SINGLE Americans afraid of rejection in the dating market ?

Many of many younger male and female friends (who are single) don’t pursue their "love interests" because their afraid of rejection….. they don’t even let their new relationships get warm before their looking for a new conquest .
This makes none of them happy…. most people don’t want to be alone but their more afraid that their new partner will reject them so "they" reject first.
HOW FOOLISH IS THIS ?
Are you aware of this same trend amongst your friends or even yourself ?
Thousands of self help books don’t seem to help anyone !

your right dumping people out of our life is becoming an epidemic because we don’t financially need anyone to survive in our society yet emotionally we would more than likely do better to be more relaxed and enjoy the person were with instead of looking for something or someone else who might be more interesting or have more interest is us.
i too am guilty of this trend.
