i dont get it in britain when you ask someone out "will you go out with me" theey say yes that means you are girlfriend and boyfriend, but isnt dating in america diffferent to american people ? and why do they call it that? i sounds silly.

When you’re dating someone here you are their girlfriend/boyfriend. Now saying you’re going on a date with someone doesn’t always mean that it’s a romantic date I suppose.
It’s basically the same here as Britain.
The term of "going out" kind of refers to going out somewhere with the other person to places, as it means you’re doing something other than just normal interaction like movies and little things like that. A "date" is basically what it sounds like. Most likely comes from the fact that when you ask someone to go on a date with you you set a date and a time to do it.
Not really sure though.
